About the Event
Even though both public and cultural diplomacy have undergone a rapid process of digitalization, few studies have examined professional, institutional, and theoretical similarities between the two: These Seminars seek to address this substantial gap.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the entire globe, stimulating the use of digital platforms and channels. However, the global pandemic simply mirror the larger, more long-term processes of Globalization, digitalization, and regional conflicts, that have all eroded the town square while online echo-chambers spread hate, discrimination, fake news, and violence. At such a time, facilitating dialogue between peoples and promoting tolerance is a crucial element of diplomacy. Thus, the session will explore how the Cultural-Digital-Public Diplomacy triangle may be used by regional, national, and non-governmental actors to bridge the public and peoples.
